AeroDirections is a member of, and actively supports the efforts of HAI. We have provided training courses at each of HAI's HeliExpo Rotor Safety Challenges.

AeroDirections exhibited at HeliExpo 2017 and will do so again at HeliExpo 2022 in Dallas where we meet with many of our customers and other attendees, showcasing our services in IS-BAO auditing and advice, SMS implementation and training services and featured the BowTieXP product suite from CGE Risk Management Solutions.

Come see us at HeliExpo 2022 in Booth 5804 just four aisles to the left of the HAI Safety Zone exhibit. This year, AeroDirections will again present the Bowtie Method of Safety Risk Management class while also introducing a new class on Risk Management in UAS Operations led by our own Jorge Sanchez Hidalgo.

United States Helicopter Safety Team (USHST)

AeroDirections actively participates on the USHST and specifically on the Accident Scoring project where we are evaluating 52 fatal U.S. rotorcraft accidents that fall into the top 3 rotorcraft accident categories:

  • Loss of Control - Inflight (LOC-I)
  • Unintentional Instrument Meteorological Conditions (U-IMC)
  • Low Altitude Operations (L-ALT)

As part of this initiative, AeroDirections is working with the project team members to develop BowTie diagrams representing the industry best practices for controlling the threats most likely to lead to accidents in these three categories. Model results will be made available to industry as they are completed. Stay tuned for more information!

Vertical Aviation Safety Team (VAST)

Previously known as the International Helicopter Safety Team (IHST), the VAST mission is to continuously improve the community’s safety culture and operational performance through harmonization, coordination, and implementation of global safety information, resources, and programs while supporting regional safety team data that promotes vertical flight’s societal contributions.

AeroDirections is proud to participate as a member of the VAST Special Projects – Safety Rating Working Group, providing Bowtie analysis to this forward-thinking group of industry experts from around the world.
